HELLHOUNDS
First : What’s a hellhound?
In folklore, a hellhound is considered as a supernatural dog. He’s known for his mangle black fur, glowing red eyes, super strength and speed, ghostly or phantom characteristics, but also for his foul odor, and an incredible healing.
Some European legends say that if someone stares three times or more into a hellhound’s eyes, this person has hundred percent of chances to die.
In culture associating afterlife with fire, hellhounds may have appearance and abilities based upon their fire.
They are considered as guards of the entrances to the world of the death, such as hunters of lost souls, or guardians of a supernatural treasure.
In European legends, to see a hellhound or hear it howl may be an omen, or even a cause of death.
They’re mostly known as the protectors of the supernatural world, keeping the secrecy of supernatural creatures or beings all around the world.
Hellhounds are shapeshifters, like werewolves or kanimas.
Second : The terrifying story of the Hellhound
Hellhounds have been the stuff of legends during centuries.
That mythical beast was born in English's folklore, but now they’re known in the entire world. How and why are they terrifying?
Thanks to a poetic
account, we know that in 1577, a snarling beast broke into a church. It attacked the congregation and bit two people in the neck. These two people promptly dropped dead.
The mythical dog traumatized the community of Bungay in Suffolk before cropping up on the county’s coast at Blyth burgh.
On that moment, the hellhound was known as Black Shuck.
Then, it attacked again believers, outbreaking through the Holy Trinity Church’s doors, before killing a man and a boy and coursing the high rise to fall apart.
The legend says that the beast left scorch marks on the church door.
Hellhounds were also registered to show up at 17th Century with hardships. But some legends don’t describe the Black Shuck as a ferocious predator.
In Little part in Cambridge shire, a shadowy canine is called as a protector, because it rescued a local girl from an abuse tentative by a religious person.
According to the legend, the hellhound died in the fight, but its ghost was left to walk around through the county.
Third : A hellhound example on TV
On an MTV show named Teen Wolf, we can see two Hellhounds.
The most important one is seen for the first time in the second part of the third season. His name’s Jordan Parrish, acted by Ryan Kelley.
At first, he doesn’t know what he is, because he wasn’t born like that. The hellhound was born when Parrish died during the war, in an explosion.
During the next two seasons, he'll learn what exactly he is, and how he can control his supernatural powers.
